medicinal plants unit

I am currently working on a science unit, featuring medicinal plants and trees. So far I made a power point presentation with 12-13 plants and trees that my CT and I have selected. I also plan on making little booklets with write up (kid friendly) on the selected plants and trees, in these books, there will be pictures of the plants, and box where the student sketches their view about the plant/tree. For the art link of this unit: students will be drawing, and painting pictures of their favourite plant/tree, will try a variety of ways to draw their pictures using pastels on dark colored paper. I will be looking for hands on activities to make this unit interesting. I look forward to my practicum this fall. During the school wide hike, the students in the class I am working in, will be looking for the selected plants and trees for their plant books. After the unit is almost over, my CT and I will be making labrador tea and bannock for the students as the end of the medicinal plant/tree unit.

Educ 406: Fine Arts Journey

This is my first time blogging :)

I am happy to be learning about how to teach arts as a future educator. Im looking forward to learning more about how to teach different kinds of art and practice what I have learned in my practicums.
I enjoy looking for new ways to incorporate art in my practicum lesson plans, I look on line through google, and my favourite pinterest website. I also look for ways to incorporate aboriginal content in cross curricular activities, in my practicum lesson plans.
I am blessed with learning about the Neduteen culture, thanks to my wonderful parents and grandparents on both sides of parents family. I can speak the Carrier Language, and have recently completed my DSTC education diploma, which has given the creditionals to teach Carrier as a language instructor. Im very proud of my heritage, and look forward to sharing my knowledge with the next generation. I believe knowing your identity helps you succeed in education and everything you do, education is important and the key to a good future.
