Here is picture of my Dad!! He is standing with my nephew Ethan at the catholic church. My nephew was getting confirmed at the catholic church. My dad was proud of my nephew and niece for getting the sacrament of confirmation at the catholic church. My dad was my nephew Ethan's confirmation sponsor.
My dad has taught me alot over the years, how to be greatful, patient, forgiving, and respectful. I admire my dad, he has overcome alot of obstacles and is the strongest man I know. He told us stories of when he was growing up at Pendelton Bay, outside of Burns Lake on the Famous "Babine Lake." He grew up with bad eyesight, and had a hard time getting a job, one of his close cousins got him a job at the Pendelton Bay sawmill. Dad was so happy, he told me that his first check was 40 dollars. He went to town in Burns Lake and happily walked around town with new wealth.I always make time to visit my parents and listen to their stories of the good ole days.
My dad is always patient, no matter what anyone does to my dad, he returns a smile to them and continues on with his business. He always made a point to say, if anyone is mad at you and talks to you with alot of anger, just walk away, pray for them and forgive them. He used the metaphor, "turn the other cheek," alot of times. I try my best to follow my dad's footsteps in being patient and forgiving.
My dad always respects everyone, he treats everyone with kindness, smiles, and always willing to help anyone who needed help. My parents have been married for 45 years, I admire them for their committment to eachother.
My dad was diagnosed with cancer last summer. He had surgery last spring. I was so afraid for my dad, when I found out my dad had cancer. My is strong, he is the pillar of my family, he keeps our family together and continues to show us to love one another unconditionally. He has been getting regular check-ups regarding his health. In his last check-up, he was diagnosed as being cancer FREE. I was so happy for my dad.
I chose to put my dad in my blog, because he is a big part of who I am as a person, he has taught me alot of values. My dad also plays musical instruments: accordian, piano, and harmonica. I wish I could play an instrument and have the gift of musical talents. My dad taught himself how to play the accordian and the piano.
My dad's birthday is coming up, I am hoping to make my dad's birthday a special day. We are having a family dinner for my dad with my grandparents, uncles and cousins, A Michell Family Celebration.
I love my parents, my dad and my mom!!
Your Dad sounds like a wonderful influence in your life and in the life of the community. How neat that he taught himself to play the instruments! My grandfather did that, too. Unfortunately, I don't have that talent either. There are projects we can do at school to honour special people in our lives; one Christmas I had students write memories and put them together in a book that had a title like a children's book we read together: Memories to Polish and Keep. Your story about your Dad could inspire students to think about how to write about their own role models. The only thing I didn't think of was that two foster children in our class didn't have family memories, so their foster Mom suggested that they make a book about their own sports memories, and that worked for them. I was sorry I hadn't thought of it myself.
